Civic Involvement

Hal:
Began civic service when his children were young, by getting involved in the activities of their schools and extra curricular interests. Served as Vice President of the White Rock Neighborhood Association in the early 80's. Served as Webelos leader for his son's den in cub scouts which led him to become an Assistant Scoutmaster in his son's troop.

Was recognized as a camp leader 4 years at Camp Constantine in the late 80's and early 90's, and was an adult leader on a 65 mile trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Built and managed scenery during the elaborate musicals that were staged at his children's high school.

Organized the Sachse Youth Community Center with various leaders of the Sachse Community, served on its Board of Directors for 8 years, and hosted it at Sachse Christian Church. This was done at the request of the Police Chief, and successfully brought down juvenile crime in Sachse during summer vacations.

Founded the Sachse Independence Day Parade to give all the children of our community a means to express their patriotism, and their creativity. It has also proven to give civic groups and individuals a way to express theirs as well.

Was elected to the Board of Directors of the Sachse Chamber of Commerce in 2003, and has served as Ambassador, Chairman of numerous committees, Treasurer, Vice-Chairman, and Chairman of the Chamber in 2008.

Received the "Spirit of Sachse Award" in 2007

Is vice chairman of the Sachse Tax Increment Finance Board for the George Bush Corridor. Serves on the Board of the Wylie ISD Education Foundation and on its Finance Committee and has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Wylie ISD Board of Trustees for his service to the Community of Wylie and the Wylie Independent School District. Hal and Lynne live in Collin County portion of Sachse, and therefore extend their civic support to encompass their home school district.

Was a member of, and treasurer for, the Uptown Dallas Exchange Club, and member and secretary of the Sachse/Wylie Exchange Club.
